Brot-Plamboz is a municipality in the district of Le Locle in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
Brot-Plamboz is first mentioned in 998 in the founding documents of the priory of Bevaix, as Broch.
Brot-Plamboz has an area, as of 2009[update], of 16 square kilometers (6.2 sq mi). Of this area, 10.88 km2 (4.20 sq mi) or 67.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 4.55 km2 (1.76 sq mi) or 28.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.43 km2 (0.17 sq mi) or 2.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03 km2 (7.4 acres) or 0.2% is either rivers or lakes and 0.17 km2 (0.066 sq mi) or 1.1% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.2%. Out of the forested land, 25.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 6.9% is used for growing crops and 50.0% is pastures and 10.9% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in lakes.
The municipality is located in the Le Locle district. It was formed in 1875 when Brot-Dessus and Plamboz merged, and in 1888 when the municipal corporations of Brot-Dessus and Plamboz merged. It consists of the village of Brot-Plamboz and the hamlets of Les Petits-Ponts and Le Joratel.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Azure, issuant from a Bridge Argent masoned Sable between the initials B and P and between a Pine tree Vert in dexter and a Peat stack Sable in sinister a Rake and a Fork in saltire crossed by a Scythe palewise all of Argent.
Brot-Plamboz has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 270. As of 2008[update], 2.7% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010 ) the population has changed at a rate of -0.8%. It has changed at a rate of -6.6% due to migration and at a rate of 5.1% due to births and deaths.
