Brigsby Bear

Brigsby Bear is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by Dave McCary, and stars Kyle Mooney, Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear and Andy Samberg. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2017.

On June 9, 2016, the Utah Film Commission put out a press release announcing that six films had been granted incentives to film in the state. One of the films was Brigsby Bear, a film directed by Dave McCary, starring Kyle Mooney and co-written by Mooney and Kevin Costello, two members of the Good Neighbor sketch comedy group. It was later reported that other cast members would include Claire Danes, Andy Samberg, Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, Michaela Watkins, Matt Walsh, and Beck Bennett (another member of Good Neighbor). As of August 18, 2016, Brigsby Bear was filmed in Salt Lake City.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2017. Shortly after, Sony Pictures Classics acquired distribution rights to the film.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 94% based on 16 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10. On Metacritic, the film has a score of 67 out of 100 based on 7 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
