"Breathe (2 AM)" is a song by American singer-songwriter Anna Nalick. The single was first released in 2004, then it was re-released in 2006 and charted at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Adult Contemporary in the United States, as well as #79 on the Australian singles charts. "Breathe (2 AM)" has been certified Gold by RIAA. The song was featured prominently in shows like ABC's Grey's Anatomy episodes "As We Know It" and "Song Beneath the Song", as well as other shows such as the WB series Charmed, Smallville and the movies "A Lot Like Love" and "Griffin & Phoenix" (2006 film) (both films the female character was played by Amanda Peet).
The verses tell the stories of three characters: a friend of the narrator's who has fallen into an unhappy relationship, an alcoholic soldier at Fort Bliss, and the narrator's experience of writing and performing a song. Chuck Taylor describes it as "an introspective yet confessional tale about learning to handle everyday challenges — and remembering to take time to breathe."
Lifted from Nalick's debut album Wreck of the Day, "Breathe (2 AM)" is backed with the non-album track "Home" (acoustic version) and "Catalyst" (acoustic version).
The two tracks "Home" and "Catalyst" do not appear on the 2006 re-release of Wreck of the Day either.
