João Barbosa, commonly known as DJ and producer Branko, first became known on the international scene as the creative driving force behind Buraka som Sistema.

This worldwide phenomenon have released tracks by seminal artists who have paved way for a new attitude towards global sounds. Championed by the producer’s label, Enchufada, this collective has been responsible for reshaping dance music culture and spawning a myriad of sub-genres that have as a result shaped the Global Club Music scene.

As a solo artist, Branko’s work spans over several singles, mixtapes and an EP featuring collaborations with Zebra Katz, Roses Gabor, Dominique Young Unique and Njena Redfoxx. In 2015, Branko did the unexpected, he delved into a musical journey across the globe, connecting seemingly separate scenes and embracing the varying vibrant music locales. Presenting to the world the next generation of music makers from Cape Town, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, New York and his hometown Lisbon. All this is documented in a Web Series entitled ‘Atlas Unfolded’ and his debut full length album ‘ATLAS’.

Aside from his global travels, Branko’s immensely popular track ‘Let Me Go’ featuring Mr. Carmack & Nonku Phiri, gained traction on sites such as i-D, Hypebeast and The Fader, who dubbed the track tinged with RnB flavours as super smooth while bringing the sunshine of South Africa to the world.

Branko then went on to win Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash in Lisbon, where he presented to the crowd his fresh and exciting take on cross-cultural sounds. His lengthly portfolio of dance-floor destroyers has even seen him credited as a co-producer on 'GOALS' from MIA's latest album AIM.
