Remarks Advocated for the "No" answer in the Puerto Rican status referendum, 2012

Boricua ¡Ahora Es! (English, Boricua, Now it is!) is a political advocacy group in Puerto Rico that advocates for changing the current political status of Puerto Rico to something else; whatever that may be, integrating the three descolonization ideologies (independence, statehood, free association) recognized by international law. The Group is represented by their spokesmen Joel Isaac Díaz (free association), Michael González Cruz (independence), Carlos R. Ruiz Cortés (independence) Edwin Pagán (statehood), and led by Ricky Rosselló.

On November 2012 it prompted a national campaign to vote NO to a question whether Puerto Ricans agreed to maintain the current territorial political status or not. The result was 54% in favor of the NO (970, 910 votes) against the 46% in favor of the YES.

On January 15, 2013 the group, together with other advocacy groups, started a campaign called Toma del Congreso (English: Taking of Congress) in which they visited every member of the United States Congress in order to explain them the results of the 2012 Puerto Rican status referendum in which a majority of voters expressed themselves against the current political status of Puerto Rico. They will also attempt to persuade the members of Congress to initiate a process to change Puerto Rico's political status. The activity is supported by U.S. representative José Enrique Serrano and Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Pedro Pierluisi.

Then, in June 10 of 2013, filed a complaint at the Civil Rights Commission of Puerto Rico. The group request the Commission to take action in favor of the results of the November 6 referendum, where the NO vote prevailed.
