Bloomfield Hills High School (BHHS) is a public high school in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, near Bloomfield Hills and in Greater Detroit. It was formed in 2013 in a merger of Andover High School and Lahser High School. The permanent campus is now officially open to students.
In 2010, the Bloomfield Hills School Board began discussing more strenuously a move to merge Andover and Lahser High schools and build a new high school that would reside on Andover's grounds. Much debate has surrounded the school board's thoughts on the project, and many local residents have asserted at school board meetings and in local news affiliates that the proposed consolidation is fiscally irresponsible and under-researched. Others have stated that the community needs a new building for the current dated high schools and that it is the fiscally prudent direction the district needs. The plan includes provisions for Lahser's athletic facilities to be kept for use by the new high school. The 9th Grade Campus is set on the site formally known as Hickory Grove Elementary school and is estimated to have approximately 400 students in the fall of 2013. The Main Campus for the 10th-12th grade students will be on the site formerly known as Lahser High School and is set to hold approximately 1,300 students in the fall of 2013.
In fall of 2015, students transferred from the two main campuses to the entirely new building known as BHHS. Also next to the new BHHS is the Model Center which is the replacement for the Model High School which was and is part of Bloomfield Hills School District. This school offers the IB diploma. The school enrolls approximately 1650 students grades 9-12. It is a true masterpiece both academically and structurally.
