Bledington is a village and civil parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, about four miles south-east of Stow-on-the-Wold and six miles south-west of Chipping Norton. The 2001 census recorded a parish population of 503.
Bledington lies on the River Evenlode, and is close to the Gloucestershire–Oxfordshire boundary and on the Oxfordshire Way.
The Church of England parish church of St Leonard dates from 1170: 12th century work includes the nave, pillars, tub font and sanctus bellcote: 13th century south aisle; 14th century windows; 15th century tower, stained glass and tiny chantry chapel: open bell-chamber and ring of six bells.
One bell cast in 1639 bears the motto "Charles is King", reflecting the views of the local gentry on the eve of the English Civil War.
The 16th-century King's Head Inn, overlooking the village green, was awarded Dining Pub of the Year by the Good Pub Guide in 2001, and also provides accommodation.
Bledington has its own primary school, Bledington School, which was awarded 'Outstanding' by OFSTED in 2011, putting it in the top 9% of primary schools nationally.
Bledington's village shop closed in 2006. The Post Office part of the shop now continues in the King's Head two mornings each week and the Bledington Shop Committee is working to re-establish a community shop in Bledington in new premises. So far a site has been purchased at Middle Orchard in the centre of the village, planning permission has been granted and foundations laid. More than 240 residents of Bledington are members of Bledington Community Shop Ltd, an industrial and provident society that will own and run the new shop. A charity, Bledington and Foscot Community Association, has been established. Fund raising is underway and construction of the new shop is expected to start in 2016/17.
