Blackwell is a town in Forest County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 332 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated community of Blackwell is located in the town. The unincorporated community of Blackwell Junction is also located partially in the town. The town was named for sawmill owner John Blackwell.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 66.4 square miles (172 km2), of which 66.0 square miles (171 km2) is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), or 0.56%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 347 people, 45 households, and 31 families residing in the town. The population density was 5.3 people per square mile (2.0/km²). There were 116 housing units at an average density of 1.8 per square mile (0.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 68.01% White, 27.67% African American, 1.44% Native American, 0.86% Asian, 1.44% from other races, and 0.58% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.31% of the population.
There were 45 households out of which 26.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.9% were non-families. 28.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.94.
