The school operates under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden, was named after Bishop Bartholomew J. Eustace, first bishop of the diocese. The school is a coeducational institution (prior to 1972, it was all-male) serving students in ninth through twelfth grades. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 1977.
As of the 2013-14 school year, the school had an enrollment of 653 students and 48.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.4:1.

The Bishop Eustace Preparatory School Crusaders compete in the Olympic Conference, an athletic conference consisting of public and private high schools located in Burlington County, Camden County and Gloucester County, operating under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). Bishop Eustace moved into Non-Public Group A for the 2009-10 sports seasons because of Gloucester Catholic High School moving into Non-Public Group B, and returned to Non-Public Group B for the 2010-11 sports seasons.
