Bato is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 38,356 people.
It borders with the municipality of Matalom in the south, Hilongos in the north, and to the east. Bato, together with Hilongos, is also a center of commerce, trade and education.
