Barry Gerard Cowen (born 2 September 1963) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Offaly constituency, upon being elected at the 2016 general election. He had previously sat as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Laois-Offaly constituency from 2011 to 2016.
He is married with four children and is an auctioneer and valuer. He is the brother of former Taoiseach Brian Cowen. His father Bernard Cowen was also a TD.
Before his election to Dáil Éireann, he was a member of Offaly County Council for the Tullamore electoral area from 1991.
He has served in various Shadow Cabinet roles, Opposition Spokesperson for Social Protection from 2011 to 2012, and Opposition Spokesperson for Housing, Planning and Local Government since July 2012.
He represented Fianna Fáil in talks on government formation in 2016.
