Dr. Abhay Firodia (Chairman) Mr. Prasan A. Firodia (Managing Director)
Force Motors Limited is the flagship company the Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of companies; one of India’s pioneering industrial houses focusing exclusively in the automotive domain.
The company, a pioneer of the LCV Industry has given India iconic brands like the Tempo, Matador, Minidor and Traveller. Over the last five decades it has partnered with leading global automotive names like Daimler, ZF, Bosch and MAN and through these associations developed comprehensive expertise in-house for design, development and production of the entire range of automobiles.
Force Motors is India’s largest van maker and enjoys market leadership position. The company is completely vertically integrated, making its own engines, chassis, gear boxes, axles, bodies, etc. for the entire product range including Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV), Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), Multi Utility Vehicles (MUV), Special Cross Country Vehicles and Agricultural Tractors.
Force Motors ranks 327th (2016) amongst India’s Fortune 500 Companies. This rank is an upward jump from 395th position last year.
Force Motors has achieved the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification as well as OHSAS 18001 Occupational, Health & Safety certification from TUV, a leading testing, certification & training company in India. It has received these certifications for its Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh), Chakan (Maharashtra) and Chennai ( Tamil Nadu) plants, apart from the existing TS 16949 certifications that all its plants already hold.
The Material Testing Laboratory and Standards Room at Pithampur have also been qualified for National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). This accreditation from NABL is about assessing and determining the reliability of data produced after testing and calibration.
The Group companies, led by Chairman Dr. Abhay Firodia, provide end-to-end technologically advanced automotive solutions, ranging from its core competence of manufacturing light transport vehicles to engines and axles for leading international OEMs to producing a large variety of critical aluminium parts (both high pressure die casting and gravity die casting) for almost all leading automotive players in the country. The foundation of the Group was laid by Late Shri N. K. Firodia - freedom fighter and pioneering industrialist. He gave India two paradigms – the concept of ‘low cost public transport’ - the Auto rickshaw (a word he coined that now finds a place in the Oxford Dictionary). The Tempo Matador was the first diesel light commercial vehicle in India. The word Tempo (a registered trade mark of Daimler) is now generic for any small goods carrier in India.
The company started production of the HANSEAT 3-Wheelers in collaboration with Vidal & Sohn Tempo Werke Germany in 1958.
