The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) was established in 1924. It supports and coordinates the activities of its constituent motoring clubs, and aims to represent the interests of Australian motorists both nationally and internationally. The President of the AAA is Ross Herron, with Peter Joyce serving as Vice President.

The association considers the national road toll and road safety as significant issues and has contributed to safer roads and safer vehicle campaigns.

The AAA has conducted studies on fuel prices and concluded that supermarket fuel discount vouchers are misleading motorists into believing they are making greater savings than they actually are. They have also warned motorists that fixed-price servicing deals which include capped pricing can end before expensive routine maintenance is required.

The AAA is a member of the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT) and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

The following organisations are members of AAA:

In 1926 the AAA sought authority to administer motor sport in Australia and this was subsequently obtained via the Royal Automobile Club. Following a decision to focus on its primary role, the association relinquished this authority to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, formed in 1953.
