Australia21 is a non-profit organisation started in Canberra in 2001.
Australia21 is an independent think tank that tackles real-world social issues and environmental problems which defy simple solutions. It commissions, conducts and reviews best practice and new research into complex challenges confronting Australia in a rapidly changing global environment. It facilitates innovative, collaborative thinking, connecting non-partisan networks of experts, business leaders and key influencers from a wide range of disciplines.
Australia21's current program includes research into climate change, land and water use, drug law reform, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), youth wellbeing, inequality, resilience, asylum seekers, the future of work, euthanasia and the way Australia relates to its neighbours.
Australia21's research is used to inform public debate and promote fair, sustainable and inclusive policy decisions in the national interest. The organisation encourages all Australians to get informed, be heard and help shape the best possible future for the nation's next generations. Australia21 also mentors 16 to 30 year-old leaders, through its YoungA21 Committee and Honorary Youth Advisers.
Australia21's volunteer Board is chaired by Paul Barrett AO. It includes leading thinkers from a range of disciplines, with diverse executive experience in the public and private sectors.
