It is about 15 km from Bulandshahr and connects the Jahangirabad, Bulandshahr and Garhmukteshwar roads to each other. Surrounding Aurangabad are the villages Sega Jagatpur, Saidpur, and Lakhaoti. The market is divided into 15 wards, and houses in its center an old Mosque, Jama Masjid, and an old Nageshwar Mahadev temple. Aurangabad is also known for the 17th-century marble "Bibi Ka Maqbara" shrine, styled after the Taj Mahal. The nearby Shivaji Maharaj Museum, dedicated to the Maratha king Shivaji, displays war weapons and a coin collection. North of the city, the Aurangabad Caves contain ancient rock-cut Buddhist shrines. West of the city, battlements surround the medieval Daulatabad Fort.
