Major General Asif Ghafoor is a Pakistani two-star general who is the current director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He was appointed on December 15, 2016. Previously, he was commanding a division in Swat.
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor is a career officer of Pakistan Army. He was commissioned in Arty Regt and commanded his parent unit 87 Med Regt Arty. A graduate of Command and staff college Quetta, NDU and from Indonesian War College. And also served on their faculty. Commanded Arty Unit, Arty Brigade, Infantry Brigade and also served in the military operations directorate. He was promoted to the rank of Major General in January 2016 and posted as GOC SWAT & Malakand and played vital role in peace and prosperity for people of Swat and Malakand.
