Ashot Garegini Hovhannisyan (Ioannisyan) (Armenian: Աշոտ Գարեգինի Հովհաննիսյան; Russian: Иоаннисян, Ашот Гарегинович) (5 June 1887, Shusha – 30 June 1972, Yerevan) was a Soviet Armenian statesman, historian, academic of Science Academy of Armenia (1960). From 1922 to 1926 he was the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia.
He was a Communist party member since 1906. Professor of Lazarian institute of Moscow (1918–19) and Yerevan State University.
In 1920–21 he was the Minister of Education of Armenian SSR. In 1936–37 Hovhannisyan was the deputy director of the Institute of History, Science Academy of USSR.
