The arrondissement of Carcassonne is an arrondissement of France in the Aude department in the Occitanie région. Its INSEE code is 111 and its capital city is Carcassonne.

It is the northernmost and largest of the arrondissements of the department, with an area of 2,668.1 km2 (1,030.2 sq mi). In 2012, it has 161,254 inhabitants and a density of 60.4 inhabitants/km².

The main cities, in 2012, in the arrondissement are Carcassonne (47,068 inhabitants), Castelnaudary (11,748 inhabitants) and Trèbes (5,280 inhabitants).

When the Aude department was created on 17 February 1800, the arrondissement of Carcassonne was part of that original department.

The arrondissement of Carcassonne occupies the northwestern part of the department and is bordered to the north by the Tarn department (Midi-Pyrénées region), to the northeast by the Hérault department (Languedoc-Roussillon region), to the east by the arrondissement of Narbonne, to the south by the Pyrénées-Orientales department (Languedoc-Roussillon region), to the southwest by the arrondissement of Limoux, to the west by the Ariège department (Midi-Pyrénées region) and to the northwest by the Haute-Garonne department (Midi-Pyrénées region).
