The Foundation Course allows students to build a base for learning Art and Design. The focus is on developing the fundamental skills and understanding through Life Drawing, Colour, Basic Design, Art Appreciation & Aesthetics, Method & Materials, Workshop and Art History.

The Foundation Course combines a studio curriculum with core studies in liberal arts, History with a traditional and cultural perspective. Students will acquire the basic skills and language necessary to succeed in any discipline.

The curriculum for Fashion Design is structured around the same schedule as the industry, allowing students to learn quickly how to manage their time, a must for the professional designer. For example, students must begin their work on the next season while finishing up the current and, the same time, begin thinking about the following season.

The first year is devoted to fashion design fundamentals – the language and skills of the industry. Students study and practice pattern making, draping, fabric and colour co-ordination, sewing and construction, model drawing, and fashion illustration.

The focus in the coming years is on tailoring and fine dress making, including sportswear, dresses and evening garments. Students in the department also have the option to work in menswear and institutional garments, children or ladies wear, designing of computer embroidery etc.
