Annabelle: Creation is an upcoming 2017 American supernatural horror film directed by David F. Sandberg, and written by Gary Dauberman. It is a prequel to 2014's Annabelle and the fourth film in The Conjuring franchise. The film stars Talitha Bateman, Stephanie Sigman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Miranda Otto. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 11, 2017.
The story is focused on a dollmaker and his wife, whose daughter died twenty years earlier, as they decide to open their home to a nun and several girls from an orphanage that has been closed. The dollmaker's possessed creation, Annabelle, sets her sights on young Janice.
In October 2015, it was confirmed that an Annabelle sequel was in development.David F. Sandberg replaced Leonetti as director in March 2016. The first film's screenwriter, Gary Dauberman, returned to write the script, with Peter Safran and James Wan returning to produce. Principal photography began on June 27, 2016 in Los Angeles, California, in the Warner Bros. Studios lot. and concluded on August 15, 2016.Benjamin Wallfisch composed the film's score. In March 2017, Sandberg revealed the title of the sequel is Annabelle: Creation.
In June 2016, Talitha Bateman, Miranda Otto, and Stephanie Sigman were cast to star in the film. It was later revealed Anthony LaPaglia, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Samara Lee, Lou Lou Safran, and Tayler Buck joined the cast of the film, with Buck making her film debut. It was also announced Lotta Losten, Sandberg's wife and frequent collaborator, would appear in the film.
