Anita is a city in Cass County, Iowa, United States, platted in 1869 and incorporated in 1875. The population was 972 at the 2010 census. Lake Anita State Park is located just outside the town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.70 square miles (4.40 km2), all of it land. Anita's motto is "A Whale of a Town."
As of the census of 2010, there were 972 people, 427 households, and 266 families residing in the city. The population density was 571.8 inhabitants per square mile (220.8/km2). There were 488 housing units at an average density of 287.1 per square mile (110.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 99.5% White, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 0.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.6% of the population.
There were 427 households of which 25.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.8% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.7% were non-families. 32.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
