He did his professional theater training in Delhi, India with Theater Action Group (TAG) under Barry John (1994–1997). He got noticed for his work in director Dibakar Banerjee’s film Love Sex aur Dhokha, where he played a sting journalist, Prabhat, who is on the verge of committing suicide.

Sial was born and brought up in old Kanpur. His father was into leather business and mother was a librarian. He has a younger brother who is a Chartered Accountant.

Sial wanted to become an actor since the age of 8, when he saw actor Amitabh Bachchan for the first time on silver screen. It was his mother who pushed him into acting and other extra curricular activities after noticing where his true interests lied. From thereon, he participated in a lot of theatre activities in Kanpur and continued the same in Delhi on a more proficient basis with his first professional play being "Blood Brothers", a musical by Willy Russel and directed for stage by Barry John in 1995. As acting was not considered a very 'safe' profession in those days, he succumbed under family pressure to pursue a Post Graduation Diploma in International Business from Melbourne, Australia. He eventually returned to India and worked in Delhi as a Franchise development director for a playschool company for a couple of years (2003). But not being able to overcome his passion for acting, he decided to quit the corporate world and return to Theater instead. To support his passion he also opened a take-away joint in East Delhi. Finally in 2004 he moved to Mumbai and settled down as a professional actor. In late 2004, Sial was recommended to Indian director Tanuja Chandra for an Indian-American film, Hope and a Little Sugar. And he was selected to play the protagonist after giving a grueling audition. His other noticeable films as an actor are "Love Sex aur Dhokha aka LSD" by Dibakar Banerjee, "Phas Gaye Re Obama" by Subhash Kapoor, and "Peter Gaya Kaam Se" by John Owen besides many other shorts.
