Alonso Ancira Elizondo (born 1956 in Mexico City) is a Mexican businessman who is the controlling shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Altos Hornos de Mexico ("AHMSA”). Ancira purchased AHMSA from the Mexican Government in 1991, when the government privatized the steel industry. In 2006 the magazine Vanguardia named Ancira as one of Mexico's "power elite," with a fortune of over $700 million. On March 30, 2006, Ancira was elected as President of the Iron and Steel Mexican Chamber (CANACERO) for the years 2006-2007. Ancira is the Chairman of the Board of MATT.org (Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together) a non for profit organization based in San Antonio, TX.
