Allendale is a New Jersey Transit rail station served by its Main and Bergen County lines as well as Port Jervis Line trains (operated by New Jersey Transit for Metro-North Railroad). The station is located at the railroad next to Allendale, Park and Myrtle Avenues in downtown Allendale, New Jersey. The station consists of two low-level platforms serving trains heading between Hoboken Terminal and Suffern. Some trains headed for Port Jervis also stop at Allendale. The station has two ticket vending machines along the inbound platform with three parking lots for commuters. The railroad depot, constructed in 1870, is a combined passenger and freight depot, with a waiting area for passengers at the south end of the building while the northern end is unused.

Service at Allendale began c. 1850 when Joseph Mallinson donated some of his land in the area for the Paterson and Ramapo Railroad with the intent that a depot be constructed at the location. Service was ended in 1857 when the depot fell into disrepair, but returned in 1859, when Mallinson repaired the building. A new board and batten station came about in 1870, replacing the Mallinson structure, which was sold to him for an ice house. The station moved across the tracks to its current location in 1902 after complaints of the station being in poor condition. The passenger underpass constructed at Allendale came in 1939, when the Works Progress Administration, New Jersey State Public Utility Commissioners and the Erie paid for removing several at-grade road crossings in the village.

Service at Allendale for weekday commuters begins at 5:01 am with the arrival of train 1100, a Main Line train out of Suffern, heading towards Hoboken Terminal, making all local stops. The final inbound train reaches the station at 11:05 pm (train 68), heading to Hoboken from Port Jervis, New York. Outbound, the first train stopping at Allendale, train 1105, arrives at 7:56 am from Hoboken using Main Line. The final outbound train (1101) arrives at 2:27 am in the morning the following calendar day. On weekends, the first inbound train to arrive at Allendale is train 70 from Port Jervis, arriving at 6:20 am. The final inbound train (1786) leaves for Hoboken at 12:20 am the next calendar day. Outbound, the first weekend train is train 1705, which arrives at 7:23 am, heading for Suffern. The final outbound stop is 2:23 am the following day on train 1701.
