Allegan Township is a civil township of Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the township population was 4,406.
The city of Allegan is within the township, but is administratively autonomous.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 31.9 square miles (82.6 km2), of which 30.4 square miles (78.7 km2) is land and 1.5 square miles (3.8 km2), or 4.63%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,050 people, 1,574 households, and 1,156 families residing in the township. The population density was 133.1 per square mile (51.4/km²). There were 1,780 housing units at an average density of 58.5 per square mile (22.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.04% White, 0.52% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.62% from other races, and 1.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.65% of the population.
There were 1,574 households out of which 32.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 2.96.
