The All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization Urdu: (آل پاکستان متحدہ اسٹوڈنٹس آرگنائزیشن) (APMSO) is notable for being the student organization that created Pakistan's 4th Notional Political Party, the Mohajir Quami Movement, now called the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
APMSO was founded by Altaf Hussain along with other students include Azeem Ahmed Tariq, Dr. Imran Farooq and others on Sunday, June 11, 1978 at Karachi University. Hussain also served as a 1st Chairman of organization while Azeem Ahmed Tariq served as 1st General Secretary of the organization.
According to Altaf Hussain's autobiography "My Life's Journey". Between 1970 and 1971, Altaf Hussain joined the National Service Cadet Scheme. Soon afterwards, he was recruited in the Baloch Regiment of the Pakistan Army.
Mr. Hussain has been politically active from a very young age. While attending the University of Karachi, he served as General Secretary and, later, as President of the National Students’ Action Committee. He founded the All Pakistan Mohajir Students’ Organization (APMSO) on the 11 June 1978. The APMSO was formed as an activist group campaigning for the rights of Mohajir students at the University of Karachi. Later, in 1984, it gave birth a mainstream political party Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM).
On 11th, June 1978 Altaf Hussain provided the university students a way to fight injustice and established All Pakistan Mohair Students Organization (APMSO),. Short after it being popular among students of Karachi University and 1980's student union election APMSO successfully secure 900 votes.After a long struggle, APMSO became very successful by protecting the rights of Mohajir but there were many areas left where injustice was still on its peak some of these were rural areas of Balochistan, Punjab, N.W.F.P (Now Khyber PukhtoonKhuwa), Sindh and Kashmir. These areas hold the actual population of Pakistan and are the actual resource production units. People in these areas are not considered humans but are treated as animals. To provide a better environment of studies to those peoples APMSO proudly converted into the “All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization” on 11’ June 2006. APMSO’, sole aim is to provide justice, and for this causes it has established international communities, which are spread, all over the world.
