Algeria competed at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The nation had participated in the Winter Games only once previously, in 1992.
The 20-year-old Douibi ended both of her events in last place, but did manage to complete both the downhill and super-G. She dedicated her performance to her late father, Mohammed.
Noureddine Maurice Bentoumi, the lone Algerian cross-country skier in Turin, was more than 5 minutes behind the leader after 10 kilometres of the men's freestyle, and did not complete the race.
