Albany is a village in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States. The population was 891 at the 2010 census, down from 895 in 2000.

Albany was laid out in 1837, and named after Albany, New York, the native home of a large share of the first settlers. A post office called Albany has been in operation since 1838.

Albany is located at 41°47′18″N 90°13′9″W / 41.78833°N 90.21917°W / 41.78833; -90.21917 (41.788411, -90.219128).

According to the 2010 census, Albany has a total area of 1.07 square miles (2.77 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 895 people, 349 households, and 262 families residing in the village. The population density was 894.8 people per square mile (345.6/km²). There were 383 housing units at an average density of 382.9 per square mile (147.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.66% White, 0.67% African American, 0.22% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.

There were 349 households out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.98.
