Ajay Devgan filmography


Ajay Devgan is an Indian film actor, director and producer. He made his debut in 1991, opposite Madhoo in the film Phool Aur Kaante, directed by Kuku Kohli. His performance in the film earned him the Best Male Debut at the Filmfare Awards in 1991. In 1992, he starred in martial arts film Jigar opposite Karisma Kapoor where he portrayed the role of a kickboxer. Devgan played a blind rebel in the film Vijaypath opposite Tabu. The same year, he starred in films Suhaag (1994) and Dilwale (1994). Devgan played a patriot-turned-terrorist in the film Diljale (1996). Devgan received his first National Film Award for his role in the political drama Zakhm (1998). The following year, he starred in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) where his performance was appreciated by the critics.

In 2000, Devgan starred in Raju Chacha, which also marked his debut as a producer under the banner of Ajay Devgn FFilms and Deewane opposite Urmila Matondkar in a double role. Devgan starred in the 2002 gangster film Company, for which he received one 2002 Best Actor Screen Award. Further, he played the role of Bhagat Singh in Rajkumar Santoshi's biopic film The Legend of Bhagat Singh, which earned him second National Film Award in 2002 and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor along with Company. He next starred in the thriller film Deewangee (2002), for which he earned a Filmfare Best Villain Award. His next release was David Dhawan's comedy film Hum Kisise Kum Nahin opposite Aishwarya Rai. In 2003, Devgan starred in Ram Gopal Varma's horror film Bhoot and as a secret agent in Qayamat: City Under Threat, which had average box-office collections. He portrayed Othello in the critically acclaimed film Omkara (2006), a Hindi remake of William Shakespeare's play Othello and also starred in the multi-starrer comedy-drama film Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006). In 2007, Devgan starred in two films, Cash, directed by Anubhav Sinha, and Aag, directed by Ram Gopal Varma.
