Agha Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi آغا سید حامد علی شاہ موسویAgha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, is the The Patron-in-Chief of Supreme Shia Ullama Board, President of Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqah-e-Jafaria (تحریکِ نفاذِ فقہ جعفریہ, Shiite-law implementation movement). He belongs to Moosavi saadat, descendants of Imam Musa al Kadhim seventh infallible Imam of Shiites. Agha Hamid Moosavi became the President of Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqah-e-Jafaria of Pakistan after the demise of Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain.
In 1967 shiites from Rawalpindi and Islamabad wrote dozens of letters to Grand Marje Ayatullah Mohsin al-hakim to send his representative to Pakistan. Earlier Ayatullah Syed Mouhammad Ali al-Hakim visited Pakistan as representative of great Marja. After departure of Ayatullah Muhammad Ali al-Hakim, Marjah-e-Azam Ayatullah Al-Uzma Syed Mohsin Al-Hakeem sent Agha Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi to Rawalpindi, Pakistan after appointing him his representative. Likewise, Ayatullah Abul Qasim Al-Khoi, Ayatullah Roohullah Khomeini, Ayatullah Syed Abdullah Sheerazi, Ayatullah Syed Jawwad Tabrezi, Ayatullah Shahroodi, Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Sheerazi and other Marajah-e-Azzaam also declared him their representative.
When Gen Zia ul Haq imposed Matial Law in Pakistan on 5 July 1977, he announced to make Pakistan a sectarian state. Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi raised voice against Zia ul Haq designs. At this critical moment, Agha Hamid Ali Moosavi wrote a letter to the great scholar and Marja-e-Aali Qadar of Islam, Ayatullah al Uzma Baqir-us-Sadar Shaheed, explicating the regional situation and seeking guidance related to the matters of implementation of Islam, and protection of the rights of Millat-e-Jafariya(shiites). In response to the letter of Quaid-e-Millat Agha Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, Ayatullah Baqir us Sadar not only stressed the need to make our governments understand the fundamentals and structure of Islamic system, but also endorsed the leadership skills of Agha Moosavi by the following comments:
In Dec 1983 a delegation led by Shia Scholars, Speakers and elites requested Agha Moosavi to accept leadership of Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya(TNFJ). Agha Hamid Moosavi accepted the leader ship on condition that it should be endorsed by shiites of Pakistan. Hence an all Pakistan Shia convention was held in Deena, Jhelum on 9-10 February,1984. Renowned shiite scholars Allama Azher Hasan Zaidi, Allama Zamir-ul-Hasan Najafi, Allama Mirza Yousaf Hussain, Allama Bashir Ansari Taxila presided the convention. Hundreds and thousands of Shiites from all over Pakistan ratified the leader ship of Agha Hamid Moosavi in this huge gathering. Deena convention is considered largest ever gathering of Pakistani Shiites after creation of Pakistan.
