Afzalpur is a panchayat town in Gulbarga district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is also the headquarters of the Afzalpur taluk.

As per Maqsood Afzal Khan descendent of Afzal Khan out of more than 150 commander-in-chief of Adil Shahi period of 200 years, Afzal Khan a leading personality stands tall who extended the territory of Adil Shahi rulers to Jinji Tamil Nadu. He not only handled military service but, established towns in his name as 'Afzalpur' in Gulbarga (Kalburgi) district and in Takiya, Bijapur district and in Raichur too. According to historian A.G. Imaratwale, he traced number of monuments constructed by Afzal Khan not only in Bijapur but, also in Gulbarga and Raichur district and even in Maharastra state.

The Masjid Mahal at Afzalpur, constructed in the year 1652 is very attractive as it starts with main entrance from North by both side a sitting facility and after crossing the entrance attached with compound in the middle there is big bastan of stone i.e. platform. Over this platform Mosque is situated towards east there is mausoleum/cenotaph of royal ladies and wives of Afzal Khan and between these there is a fountain pound and towards southern side there is palace of Afzal Khan in centre of complex.

Afzalpur is located at 17°12′N 76°21′E / 17.2°N 76.35°E / 17.2; 76.35. It has an average elevation of 408 metres (1338 feet). The town is spread over an area of 3 km².

Afzalpur Taluk borders Aland taluk of Gulbarga district to the north, Gulbarga taluk of Gulbarga district to the east, Jevargi taluk of Gulbarga district and Sindgi taluk of Bijapur district to the south, Indi Taluk of Bijapur district to the west and Akalkot Taluk of Solapur district of Maharashtra to the north-west.
