Michael Adrian Kempe (born September 13, 1996) is a Swedish professional ice hockey right wing. He is currently playing for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Kempe was selected by the Kings in the first round (29th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Kempe was born in Kramfors, Sweden, where he also grew up. He made his Swedish Hockey League debut playing with Modo Hockey during the 2013–14 SHL season. At the conclusion of the 2014–15 season, in which he recorded a career high 17 points in 50 games with cellar-dwelling Modo, Kempe signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings on April 15, 2015. He was then immediately assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, for their playoff pursuit in successfully capturing the Calder Cup.
His older brother, Mario also plays professionally, currently for HC Vityaz in the Kontinental Hockey League.
