Adesh Kanwarjit Singh Brar was a Congress MLA from Punjab. He was the son of former Chief Minister of Punjab, Harcharan Singh Brar. He completed his schooling from The Doon School (1957). Under-Graduated from Punjab Agricultural University with B.Sc(1960) and Graduated From Cornell University Agriculture and Life Sciences (M.P.S.) (1966) USA. Became an MLA in 1977, 2007 respectively.
He was born on 15 October 1939 in the village of Sarai Naga on National Highway 16, between Sri Muktsar Sahib and Kot Kapura to Harcharan Singh Brar. He graduated from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. An alumnus of The Doon School. He married Karan Kaur Brar. He has 3 sons, Brar Family has close ties with Sonia Gandhi and Capt. Amrinder Singh.
Brar got 2000 Acres of Stud Farm at his village, With World class Horses worth $20 Million. His Family wealth reported to be around $450 Million. Brar family has properties around the country as well as in USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Dubai. He was considered the richest politician in India. His family is one of the most educated political families of India.
Sonny was a very quiet person and family oriented. He told in an interview he never wanted to join politics, But because of his father who insisted he had to join. He has given 40% of his family wealth to NGOs affiliated with UN and Government of India. Like his father, Charity runs in their blood.
Brar died in New Delhi (Fortis Hospital) on 4 March 2012 after a long fight with cancer at the age of 73 years. He was cremated at his Native village Sarai Naga, Sri Muktsar Sahib.
