ACTOR PREPARES is an acting school, established in 2005 by Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee, Anupam Kher. Kher is the Founder and Chairman of the institute headquartered in Mumbai. ACTOR PREPARES provides both part-time and diploma courses for actors and screenwriters. The institute’s alumni include popular Bollywood actors such Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, Manish Paul, to name a few. Global celebrities such as Oscar winners Robert De Niro and Ang Lee, the The Wachowskis and British actor Jason Isaacs have visited the institute.
ACTOR PREPARES was chosen as the most unique acting school by the French language Canadian television network TV5 Quebec Canada. The channel is part of the Paris-based TV5Monde, the second largest network in the world reaching over 207 million households across over 200 countries. ACTOR PREPARES was included in a documentary series titled Schools Like No Others by the network that profiled the most unique institutions globally.
ACTOR PREPARES has expanded into the production of television programmes. It has produced two seasons of The Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai which was telecast on Colors during 2014 and 2015 and its fiction programme Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par began telecast on Zindagi in October 2016.
National Award winner Anupam Kher is an Indian actor-director-producer who has crossed a milestone in his career by acting in his 500th film. He has also been conferred with the civilian awards Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts. He has worked in prominent international projects such as Bend It Like Beckham(2002), Ang Lee's Lust, Caution (2007), Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger(2010) and David O. Russell's Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook (2013).
