Waleed Jassem al-Alwani, also known by the nom de guerre Abu Ahmad al-Alwani, is a senior commander in the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and a member of its military council.
A former officer in the Iraqi Army under Saddam Hussein, he was reported by Sun to have been killed by coalition air-strikes in late 2014.
However, his death was never confirmed by the U.S. or the Islamic State and in 2015, Reuters and The Washington Post referred to al-Alwani as if he were alive.
