Abu-Hudhayfah ibn 'Utbah

Abu Hudhayfa ibn Utbah (Arabic: أبو حذيفة بن عتبة; died 633), full name Abu Hudhayfa ibn Utbah ibn Rabi'ah was an early companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was the son of Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, one of the Leaders of Banu Abd Shams. He was the brother of Walid ibn Utbah and Hind bint Utbah, the wife of Abu Sufyan.

He was married to Sahla bint Suhail and had an adoptive son named Salim Mawla Abu Hudhayfa. Before the Battle of Badr started Muhammad informed the Muslims that some people in the enemy front are brought by force to fight against them, if by chance they come under your sword, don't harm them, especially Abbas bin Abdul Mutallib, Abul Bakhtari, Akhil bin Abi Talib, and some others. On hearing this, Hazrat Abu Huzaifa, whose father Utbah, uncle Shaiba and brother Walid had been slain at the hands of the Muslims, could not control his passions and these words slipped from his tongue: "While we are slaying fathers, brothers and near relatives with our swords, how is it possible we shall spare Abbas. By God, if Abbas comes across me, I shall bridle him with my sword." Huzoor turned towards Umar and said "what nonsense is he saying". At this Umar told him "give me the permission, I will roll off his head" Huzoor told him "no, he is a true Muslim, but now he has made a mistake." after this Abu Huzaifa felt sorry during his whole life. Abu Hudhayfah fought in the Battle of Badr, witnessing the deaths of his father, brother, and uncle in the traditional 3 champions' combat duel before the actual battle between the Muslims and Quraish even started. Abu Hudhayfa was martyred, alongside Salim, in the Battle of Yamama in the Ridda wars in 11 A.H (633 CE). They were both buried together in the same grave.
