"A festa da vida" ("The party of life") was the Portuguese entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1972, performed in Portuguese by Carlos Mendes.
The song is a ballad, with Mendes singing that the world needs to view life as a party in order to dismiss the negativity of the world. He describes this party fondly, mentioning "bread, wine and roses on the table" and hoping that it will "last until daybreak".
The song was performed seventh on the night, following Norway's Grethe & Benny with "Småting" and preceding Switzerland's Véronique Müller with "C'est la chanson de mon amour". At the close of voting, it had received 90 points, placing 7th (the highest Portuguese finish at the time) in a field of 18.
It was succeeded as Portuguese representative at the 1973 Contest by Fernando Tordo with "Tourada".
