The 2018 Rose Bowl is a college football bowl game that will be played on January 1, 2018 at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California. This 104th Rose Bowl Game, as a semifinal for the College Football Playoff (CFP), will match two of the top four teams selected by the system's selection committee to compete for a spot at the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship game to be played on January 8, 2018 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It is one of the 2017–18 bowl games that will conclude the 2017 FBS football season. Sponsored by the Northwestern Mutual financial services organization, the game is officially known as the Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual.
The game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, and broadcast on ESPN Radio and XM Satellite Radio, with the kickoff time set for 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local time). The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association is the organizer of the game.
Pre-game activities will be held at the Rose Bowl parking lots and at Brookside Golf Course.
The two participants, ranked No. 1 and No. 4 or No. 2 and No. 3 by the CFP selection committee, will be announced on December 3, 2017. Traditionally, the Rose Bowl pits the winners of the Big Ten Conference and Pacific-12 Conference; however, when the Rose Bowl is a CFP semifinal (every three years beginning with this game), any teams may be selected.
