The 2017 Sun Belt conference football season will begin on August 31, 2017 with 4 games Including Tennessee State at Georgia State and the season will end on December 2, 2017 the conference will include new member Costal Carolina from Division I FCS to FBS. And this will be the last season for current members Idaho and New Mexico.
The Conference will now consists of twelve members including new member Coastal Carolina who will be transferring from FCS to FBS this season and will not be bowl eligible this season..
This will be the first season for Coastal Carolina, who is transitioning from FCS to FBS. This is also the last season for both the Idaho and New Mexico State football programs as associate members of the conference. New Mexico State will become an FBS independent while Idaho will move down to the FCS level in its main conference, the Big Sky Conference, after this season.
