The 2017 New England Patriots season will be the franchise's upcoming 48th season in the National Football League, the 58th overall and the 18th under head coach Bill Belichick.
The team will enter this season as the defending champions of Super Bowl LI.
February 20: Long time Patriots coach, Brian Daboll, was named as the offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama football team after serving as the Patriots tight ends coach for three years.
February 27: After serving as a Patriots coaching assistant for 2 years, Nick Caley was named as the Patriots tight ends coach. Thus, replacing former Patriots tight ends coach, Brian Daboll, for the job.

The Patriots' preseason opponents and schedule will be announced in the spring.
On February 1, 2017, the NFL announced that the Patriots will play the Oakland Raiders in the International Series at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, with the Raiders serving as the home team. The game will be televised in the United States, and the date, kickoff and network will be announced in conjunction with the release of the 2017 regular season schedule.
By virtue of winning Super Bowl LI, the Patriots will play in the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, September 7, which will be televised nationally by NBC.
