The Military Police of Espírito Santo strike began on February 4, 2017 demanding better pay. There are demonstrations throughout the Metropolitan Region of Vitória, capital of the state of Espírito Santo. In addition to the salary readjustment, the strike claims for benefits and extra pay. From the beginning of the movement until February 24, 199 people suffered violent deaths only in the state.
On February 3, 2017, acquaintances and relatives of police officers protested in front of the Military Police Detachment blocking the exit of police vehicles in Serra. According to the police, the protests were peaceful. The strike itself began in the early hours of Saturday, February 4, with protests in the cities of the Greater Vitória, Linhares, Aracruz, Colatina and Piúma.
