The 2017 AFF U-15 Youth Championship will be the 12th edition of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship. It has reverted from an under 16 competition to an under 15 competition in preparation for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship qualification rounds.
It will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, returning for the first time since the cancelled 2009 AFF U-16 Youth Championship.
All twelve member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation were set to take part in the tournament featuring three groups of four teams, but with Indonesia's suspension, they were omitted and the AFF reverted to two groups featuring six and five teams.
The top two teams of each group advance to the semi-finals.
The teams are ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss). If tied on points, tiebreakers are applied in the following order:
