The 2016–17 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team will represent Purdue University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach is Matt Painter, in his twelfth season with the Boilers. The team will play their home games in Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, IN, and are members of the Big Ten Conference.

The Boilermakers finished the 2015–16 season with a record of 26–9, 12–6 in Big Ten play to finish in a four way tie for third place in conference. They defeated Illinois and Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament to advance to the championship game where they lost to Michigan State. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where, as a No. 5 seed, they were upset by No. 12 seeded Arkansas–Little Rock in the First Round.
