The 2016–17 Copa Argentina is the eighth edition of the Copa Argentina, and the sixth since the relaunch of the tournament in 2011. The competition began on February 2, 2017. Defending champions are River Plate. The champion will qualify for the 2018 Copa Libertadores and the 2017 Supercopa Argentina.
Ninety nine (99) teams will take part in this competition: All teams from the Primera División (30); twelve (12) teams of the Primera B Nacional; five (5) from the Primera B, four (4) from the Primera C; two (2) from the Primera D; fourteen (14) teams from Federal A and thirty two (32) from Federal B.

In this first round, 32 teams from the Torneo Federal B participated. The round was played between February 2 and February 23, on a home-and-away two-legged tie. The 16 winning teams advanced to the Round II.
