All member clubs of MNZ Murska Sobota that played in 1. MNL (fourth level) or higher in Slovenian league pyramid were required to participate, while participation for clubs in 2. MNL was optional.
Veržej was automatically given a bye into the second round before the 1st round draw.
Both finalists qualified for the 2016–17 Slovenian Cup.
All rounds were contested in a single game (first team was the host). Final match was played on neutral ground.
