The 2012 Malaysia Para Games, officially known as the 16th Malaysia Para Games was a Malaysian disabled multi-sport event held in Kuantan, Pahang from 9 to 14 December 2012, six months after the 2012 Sukma Games. Around 2537 athletes from 13 States and 2 Federal Territories participated at the games which featured 349 events in 17 sports. This was the first time Pahang hosted the Malaysia Para Games.

Pahang is the eighth state to host the Malaysia Para Games after Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kelantan, Malacca, Terengganu, Johor and Sarawak and also the second state to host the Malaysia Para Games based on the rotation system of the Sukma Games host, a hosting system introduced in 2010 begin with the 2010 Malaysia Para Games after Malacca.

The final medal tally was led by Sarawak, followed by Johor and Malacca with host Pahang in sixth place. Several national records were broken during the games. Kedahan athlete Amir Firdaus Jamaluddin of Kedah and Sabahan athlete Doriah Paulus were announced as Best Sportsman and Best Sportswoman of the gamesrespectively. The games were deemed generally successful with the rising standard of disabled sports competition amongst the Malaysian states.

The 16th Malaysia Para Games had 14 venues for the games.

The logo of the 2012 Malaysia Para Games is the image depicting the word “Paralimpiad Malaysia” (Malaysia Para Games) which is strengthen by the official logo of the Paralympics and represents the commitment of the Malaysia Paralympic Council in realizing its role through this biannual games. The logo, overall , resembles the strength of the Paralympic movement and its will at global stage to help spreading Paralympics spirit and ideology to every people across the globe. The edition number shows the glorious records made by participating athletes 3 decades since the games debut in 1982 and the consistency, stability, strength, will and readiness of Malaysia Para Games in playing greater and challenging role in the new era.

The mascot of the 2012 Malaysia Para Games is an elephant named Tapis. The mascot is named after Mount Tapis, a mountain found within Pahang. Elephant is the symbol and the state animal of Pahang which are found deep in the lush forest of Pahang. In the games, it represents the courage, intelligence and agility of the participating athletes.

A total of 969 medals, comprising 349 Gold medals, 312 Silver medals and 308 Bronze medals were awarded to athletes. The host Pahang's performance was their best ever yet and were placed 6th overall among participating states.
