The 1997 Sacramento State Hornets football team represented Sacramento State University during the 1997 NCAA Division I-AA football season.
Sacramento State competed in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets were led by third-year head coach John Volek and played home games at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California.
