The 1977 US Open – Men's Singles event was one of the competitions of the 1977 US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament. It consisted of a draw of 128 players of which 16 were seeded. Fourth-seeded Guillermo Vilas defeated defending champion Jimmy Connors 2–6, 6–3, 7–6(7–4), 6–0 in the final, played on September 11, 1977 on outdoor clay courts at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, Queens, to win his first US Open singles title. First-seeded Björn Borg retired from his fourth-round match due to a shoulder injury.
