The 1976–77 Northern Premier League season was the ninth in the history of the Northern Premier League, a football competition in England.

In the ninth season of the Northern Premier League only Altrincham was put forward for election to the Football League and after receiving the least votes did not gain promotion. Conversely, none of the sides were relegated, with Workington joining the League at the end of the season having left Football League Division Four.
