Šumice is a village and municipality (obec) in Uherské Hradiště District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic.
The municipality covers an area of 15.69 square kilometres (6.06 sq mi), and has a population of 1,759 (as at 28 August 2006).
Šumice lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of Uherské Hradiště, 23 km (14 mi) south of Zlín, and 266 km (165 mi) south-east of Prague.
The first mention of Šumice dates back to the 14th century when the name of the village was Schumitz. The current name dates from 1924.
The river that flows through the village is called Olšava.
